Palm Sunday – Why the Palms?

We handed them out as people left church that Palm Sunday– the branches, that is; long, narrow, palm branches. Its been several years now since that Sunday but my memory of it seems just as fresh today as it did that Sunday. I had just finished preaching from John 12:12-19 NASB, a text familiar to most Christians. The text paints the picture of an expectant and exuberant crowd, most of them waving Palm Branches as Jesus enters Jerusalem seated upon a donkey; a glorious celebration, no doubt.  As my congregants left church that Sunday morning, I remember saying,  “Wave your branches...

The Saudi Arabia-Egypt Proposed King Salmon Bridge

A news report came across my desk recently that caught my eye. It just so happened that I was preparing for a coming sermon on Isaiah 11:11-16 when I read the report. The news report reminded me of one of the verses from the text I was preaching on:  And the LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt; and He will wave His hand over the River with His scorching wind; and He will strike it into seven streams and make men walk over dry-shod. (Isa. 11:15 NAU) This is the only place in Scripture that...

U.S. Takes Hard Stance Against Anti-Israel U.N. Human Rights Council

The line-in-the-sand seems to be getting deeper and deeper as the new U.S. Administration actively stands with Israel (rather than just talking about it). The Times of Israel reports: US boycotts UN discussion on Israeli human rights abuses. State Department slams Human Rights Council for ‘longstanding bias’ against Jewish state that ‘threatens its credibility. ’BY TIMES OF ISRAEL STAFF March 20, 2017, 3:13 pm. Amid threats from Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to withdraw entirely from the United Nations Human Rights...

Two-State Solution for Palestinians? Not a Chance!

The two-state solution will never be accepted by Arab Palestinians. The Jordanian soldier quoted below is an example of the hatred that so many sons of Ishmael (or sons of Esau) have towards the Jews. The objective for the Palestinians is not self-determination in their own state, i.e., a two-state solution, but rather no state for Israel, regardless of the form. Israelis are human waste. We must get rid of them’ Jordanian terrorist released after murdering 7 Israeli schoolgirls says all Israelis must be killed and Israel destroyed. Gary Willig, 3/12/17 Ahmed Daqamseh, the Jordanian soldier who opened fire on a group...

Refreshing!! Finally – the U.S. is a voice of truth in the U.N.

How is it possible that the leaders of the free world can be so deceived? And the media to boot? To read the following report about the double-standard in the U.N. that U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley is confronting is refreshing. Yet, it also tells us what has been going on in this supposedly neutral body for ages. U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley ripped into the international body’s “anti-Israel bias” last week, specifically denouncing the U.N. Security Council for criticizing the Jewish state while ignoring security threats in the Middle East. … The double standards are breathtaking,” Haley...
