A recent post from this blog reported the actions of Papal candidate Cardinal Peter Turkson of Ghana (click here to read post), who is thought to be one of three leading candidates for the papacy. Cardinal Turkson’s actions at a conference for Catholic Bishops caused quite an uproar several months back. The Cardinal screened a popular YouTube video, Muslim Demographics, which detailed the advance of Islam in Europe and Asia over the last years as well as forecasted the advance of Islam over the next fifty years using current Muslim birth and immigration rates. The point of the video is that Islam will take over Europe in the next fifty or so years without lifting a sword. By sheer numbers, Muslims will hold a majority in democratic countries. The result will be the replacement of democratic leaders with Muslim leaders, throughout Europe, and by virtue of the democratic process, the replacement of the constitutions of free people with the Qur’an and sharia law. Cardinal Turkson is reported to have stated the following about Islam:
Turkson, who is from Ghana, has said over the years that theological dialogue with Muslims is impossible. Known for his strong views, the cardinal also proposed the creation of a global bank after the global economic crisis began in 2008.
The Vatican sought to distance itself from the YouTube video and its conclusions. A Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, officially stated: “This video does not express the view of the synod or the Vatican.”
It is quite interesting that Cardinal Turkson is reported to be a leading candidate to fill the vacancy in the Papacy created by the retirement of Pope Benedict. It seems that the public statement of the Vatican and the personal views of the cardinals might be two different matters. How else do you explain Cardinal Turkson’s rising statue when he seems to be the one candidate that espouses a private view of Islam quite different from the public statements of the Papacy? God will be the one who choose the next pope regardless of the “color of the marbles dropped in the box.” If He chooses Cardinal Turkson, it seems that the timing for a confrontation between the “religion of the beast” (Revelation 13:1-10) and those who “hold to the testimony of Jesus” (Revelation 12:17) is coming sooner than later!
Jesus come quickly.
Many people have believed for many years, the last pope would be named Peter. Supposedly, Peter the Roman. They also believe he will be the false prophet.
I don’t necessarily agree, but, if this pope is named Peter the ‘anything’, I would find it quite interesting.
he’s the last pope for sure:))
